Melos Choir and Period Instruments will be holding its annual fundraiser evening on Friday, February the 24th. This year’s event, “A Venetian Carnevale”, will offer the traditional pre-Lent exuberant celebration of food, song and festivity. Our choir, soloists, and instrumentalists will provide entertainment (some with costumes and masks) of period music and theatrics–both bawdy and refined. Special guests include lutenist Michael Leopold, soprano Megan Batty (2016 Baroque Idol winner), and local actor and director, Peter Aston, as emcee.

Refreshments are a part of the festivity, of course, and our hosts at the Renaissance Hall will be offering a fine selection of delicious finger foods, and their cash bar. Melos has a large selection of Talents and Experiences available in their Silent Auction. These will all be posted on the Melos website, Melos-earlymusic.org, in early February, for advance viewing.

While masks and costumes for audience members are not required or expected, they would certainly be welcome and admired. There will be masks sold for souvenirs at the event, with the option of wearing them if desired.

Come and support Eastern Ontario’s only ensemble dedicated to excellence in performing Early Music, with our own superb local talent!

Tickets are $50, and are available at Novel Idea, St. George’s Cathedral Office, from Choir members and online at Snapd Kingston
