This soothing and atmospheric program includes medieval chants for Advent; 16th c. Christmas carols; passionate traditional love songs for Shabe Yalda, the Persian darkest night festival; and Charpentier’s Christmas Oratorio In Nativitatem, with baritone soloist, David Roth (of Capella Intima and Opus 8). Melos Choir and vocal soloists are joined by Navaa Band and Melos Period Instruments, performing on Tar, Setar, Tanbur, Oud, Percussion, Recorders, Strings and Harpsichord.

This virtuosic program by Melos Choir & Period Instruments includes a 15th century a capella setting of the Magnificat; Monteverdi's orchestrated 1610 Magnificat Septem Vocum; an 18th century Magnificat by Sr. Isabella Leonarda; and J.S. Bach's famous Magnificat, BWV 243. Melos' vocal soli are joined by guest soloists David Roth, baritone; and John McFarlane, tenor. Instrumental guests: Paul Sanvidotti & Andras Molnar, Baroque Trumpets; Vic Houle & Walter Kipp, Baroque Oboes; Jin Cho & William Egnatoff, Baroque Flutes; Chantal Brunette & Jo Dashney, Sackbuts; Étienne Asselin & Roman Golovanov, Cornetto.
